SGS Introduces Solar Simulation Testing at its Automotive Testing Laboratory in Manesar, HaryanaFor making material testing more efficient and accurate, SGS announced introduction of solar simulation testing at the automotive testing laboratory in Manesar, India.

With solar radiation causing various unwanted effects on materials that are exposed prolonged, changing the aesthetics (color fading) and structural changes (increasing the brittleness and loss in strengths), solar simulation testing is used to simulate the spectra of natural sunlight for helping in the determination of a material’s reaction when it is exposed to sunlight for a long time.

Consisting of two world-class chambers, where metal halide lamps are fitted for generating irradiance of almost 1200 W/m2, solar simulation is capable of withstanding to every testing requirements by the automotive industry. Used for performing solar simulation testing with various temperatures and humid conditions, the chambers meet the global testing requirements. For catering to the different specifications when needed for interior and exterior components, there are multiple chambers with different capacities are in place.

It is a piece of pleasing news for the SGS company to take the lead in introducing a new technology for the Indian automotive industry. “We are now harnessing our rich, decade-long experience with this best-in-class technology in our laboratories in Germany and China, to serve the Indian industry. With this installation, Indian auto manufacturers will no longer need to send samples outside of the country,” stated in a declaration by SGS.

The new technology will give SGS the power to provide a wide range of automotive testing services in India. SGS has three automotive testing laboratories in the cities of Chennai, Manesar, and Pune, which are equipped with the latest technology and equipment in the market. These technology and equipment deliver the optimal expertise and proficiency in performing testing for metal and polymer materials, dynamics, airbag deployment, corrosion, environment simulations, vibrations, on-board electronics, VOCs, ELVs and related substance.
